OCTOBER 2010

September brought much excitement to our Province. The debate over categorizing Igor a hurricane or tropical storm may continue, but whats in the name: Igor by any other name would have still caused the resulting devastation. As one of our newcomers from Houston, Texas, remarked, " I thought I left these storms behind." Seeing washed our roads, fallen bridges, and homes swept away by raging currents makes us realize that humanity is not in charge of Nature. Newfoundlanders are no strangers to difficulties and have already shown their skills in coping under pressure, they shall shall build stronger bridges and safer roads. We shall all help.
Morning Coffee at The Rooms at 10:15AM on Wednesdays, October 13th and 27th.
The Rooms have ample parking space with all visitors to the Museum allowed 2 free hours of parking. The coffee mornings offer an ideal first contact with the relative old timers of the Newcomers' Club. The friendly, informal atmosphere of The Rooms coffee shop encourage socializing, and if the popularity of the coffee mornings grows as steadily as it has in the past, we may have to engage in musical chairs to enable everyone to converse with as many of the present club members as possible.
